The mobile gaming industry is booming as smart phones take over desktop computers. Everything we love about PC games is now available on smaller, more portable devices. Stats show that the industry hit the $40.6 billion mark in 2016. And it’s still going strong.

Clash of Clans
The premise of Clash of Clans is pretty simple: You build a base, train your troops, and use them to attack other settlements in the game. Depending on how much you earn from raids, you can unlock different troops, ranging from Barbarians and Archers to Goblins and Dragons.
The game is free to play on iOS and Android. You can take part in single player campaigns where you play against NPCs (Non-Player Characters), but if you want to win Trophies, you have to successfully raid another player’s clan or make your base strong enough to fend off attacks from other online players.
In all, Clash of Clans is an addictive mixture of competitive, fast-paced combat, and strategic planning. It was also nominated for the “Best Social Game” category in the 9th edition of the IMGA (International Mobile Gaming Awards).
Adventure Quest 3D
There are a lot of MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games) for mobile, but Adventure Quest 3D is by far the most ambitious. It has everything you would want from the genre, from 3D characters to classic MMORPG gameplay elements.
Like most MMORPGs of the type, Adventure Quest 3D features four different classes. Starting off, you can play as a Mage, Rogue, Warrior, or Guardian, and unlock other classes as you progress in the game. Additionally, players aren’t tied to a single class and can switch between different classes they’ve unlocked. You can also play with different characters on multiple devices, such as iPads, Android phones, and Mac/PCs.
The game even allows players on different levels to dungeon crawl together thanks to the “sidekick” feature. In terms of top multiplayer mobile games, Adventure Quest 3D definitely earns a place on this list.
Dungeon Hunter 5
The Dungeon Hunter franchise has released a number of notable hack-and-slash titles in mobile gaming, and the fifth installment is no different. In Dungeon Hunter 5, you play as a bounty hunter seeking revenge on those who have wronged you while aiming to be the most notorious bounty hunter of all.
Like Clash of Clans, Dungeon Hunter 5 works like a co-op and asynchronous multiplayer game. In a single-player campaign, you customize your stronghold with a variety of creatures, defend it, and occasionally raid another player’s stronghold for loot. Additionally, you can also hire other players or your friends to help you on your journey of vengeance and bounty hunting.
Unlike its predecessor, Dungeon Hunter 4, this installment isn’t open world, but rather a level based dungeon with a series of difficulties. You encounter stronger enemies as you progress through the game. The story mode has 69 different missions, and there’s even a multiplayer co-op mode for player interactions.
Overall, the game has a pretty intriguing story with a good pace and a narrative interesting enough to keep players glued to their mobile devices. Plus, it’s available on both Android and iOS.
Celtic Heroes
Celtic Heroes is a free-to–play, open world mobile MMORPG in which you join thousands of players online as a Warrior, Druid, Ranger, Rogue, or Mage to protect the mythical land of Dal Riata from the forces of darkness. Set in a Celtic universe, you are tasked with saving the world, starting with the most basic abilities in a quest to become the best hero of all.
The classes are pretty standard, but offer players some flexibility by enabling them to purchase skills and allocate stats that aren’t class locked. But that is not the only reason Celtic Heroes is considered one of the best multiplayer games for mobile. It’s one of the few MMORPGs that rival PC games. It has everything a standard PC game from the genre has, from combat play to PvP battles and dungeons, but for mobile. The multiplayer mechanics are pretty impressive, too. You can explore a massive 3D world and go on quests with players just like in any PC-based open world game.
